France prohibits the use of hydroxychloroquine, an antimalarial, as a treatment for the new coronavirus. Hydroxychloroquine has been relentlessly hailed by President Trump as an effective treatment for COVID-19 and even admitted last week that it was taken with a cocktail of other drugs to prevent it to catch the disease. However, a massive drug study published last week has questioned the benefit of hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 patients and has even found an increased risk of heart problems and death. The French Ministry of Health announced Wednesday morning: [in doctors offices] in cities or in the hospital, this … should not be prescribed to patients with COVID-19. Trump said last weekend that he had just “completed” a two-week course of hydroxychloroquine despite the evidence that it could do more harm than good.
