Jack Grealish’s interest in Manchester United brought Angel Gomes closer to an exit for Old Trafford – and fans are not happy.

The Aston Villa skipper would be at the top of United’s wish list, along with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eager to build a team capable of competing for the Premier League.

Grealish has been Villa’s lead player this season, with the Red Devils willing to spend £ 70 million on the 24-year-old.

However, the Manchester Evening News reports that United’s interest in Grealish, along with Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, has pushed Gomes – whose first team opportunities are already limited – closer to exit.

Report says: “United has eased some of Gomes’ reservations about club leadership since the start of the season, but has targeted three British talents of similar age to Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham before the next transfer window , which is said to have discouraged Gomes. “

The 19-year-old made his debut for United when he was only 16, but has trouble starting and is now a target for Chelsea.

United fans respond to Gomes’ claim:

@Dysmaxia: If he doesn’t believe in his ability to cut at United, he’s not United quality. It doesn’t matter who signs United. Not in Rashford.

@jossdallitdim: If he doesn’t have the stomach to fight for his place, then maybe he better go elsewhere

@MikeyMembury: If he had signed a contract, he would have played his best, we got better players thanks to the confidence of the next progression

@PhilzyUtd: So he says he can’t compete? Lol bro is nobody here to pet you, fight and win your place .. If you can’t bye

@iseekwisdm: if you are not encouraged by the club to recruit better players, then go and find a team where these better players are not.

@Spin_Maestro: To be fair, Gomes must show that he is good enough to justify first place in the team. The simple fact is that he didn’t.

@ RedDevi37875050: He cannot therefore compete for his place

@InvertedWingerr: They probably wouldn’t have targeted them if you signed the contract earlier this season and won Ole’s trust by doing so. You would surely have been mistaken for lingard and andreas.

@ Vedant_92: Imagine Ronaldo and Carrick getting discouraged in 2007 because we signed Nani and Anderson.
