GOOD MORNING, Britain was hit by more than 500 Ofcom complaints in just one week after Piers Morgan’s regular got angry.

Piers, 55, is often seen engaging in heated debates with guests of ITV and the past seven days have been no different, but viewers are clearly not satisfied.

On Tuesday May 12 alone, the regulator received 174 complaints about the breakfast – which is also hosted by Susanna Reid.

The next day, Good Morning Britain was complained about 98 times and the next day, 76 times.

The number of phone calls to Ofcom dropped quite significantly on May 15 to just ten – but Piers doesn’t host the show on Friday.

On Monday, May 18, complaints climbed again to 51 after Piers again criticized the government amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

The controversial host also denounced professional footballers for flouting government rules after a series of front page incidents – the latest of which saw Chelsea ace Callum Hudson-Odoi arrested on suspicion of rape.

The latest Ofcom statistics come after the publication of two petitions – one to fire Piers and the other to keep him in the role of ITV.

The two petitions saw an exceptional increase in signatures after Piers sparked 4,000 complaints about his “combative” coronavirus talks with Minister of Care Helen Whately and Secretary of Health Matt Hancock.

The 55-year-old woman came under fire after an explosive argument with Ms. Whately as she tried to defend why so few people in nursing homes had been tested when thousands of patients had already died.

Some viewers said that Piers “intimidated” him, while others insisted that the presenter was doing his job and holding the minister to account.

The father of four, Piers, revealed that he was aware of both campaigns and joked on Good Morning Britain when they were first revealed: “You can’t take me away, I currently identify myself as a penguin so this would be cruelty to animals. “

Piers continues to be a outspoken critic of the government’s approach to coronaviruses, and he has accused cabinet ministers of refusing to be interviewed by him on GMB in recent days.

The journalist said that the way the daytime broadcast was avoided by the Prime Minister and senior ministers was “shameful.”

He fumed: “I think it’s shameful. I think this is completely wrong. The reason why Matt Hancock [Health Secretary] is not doing our show because the government sent a procession of extremely poor junior ministers who could not answer basic questions about it and we got angry with them. “
