As the parks fill up with people wanting to take advantage of the warming temperatures, Montreal public health officials have announced 307 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 42 others have died from the virus the day before.
The total number of deaths in the metropolitan area is now 2,276 and 21,717 confirmed cases. Montreal represents more than half (50.5%) of cases in Quebec and 64% of deaths in the province.
Of those whose deaths have been reported, 33 were 80 years of age or older, and 1,676 seniors died in Montreal due to the virus. Seven of the new deaths were between 70 and 79 years of age and the other two between 50 and 59 years of age.
The most taxed health and social services centers remain in the east and north of Montreal. The East Island of Montreal CIUSSS reported 101 new cases of COVID-19, and the North CIUSSS reported another 66 cases. The CIUSSS West Central reported 57 other cases.
