Gyrano Kerk tipped to change Celtic as Utrecht boss prepares for star winger offers

Utrecht manager John van den Brom expects Celtic to make a move for Gyrano Kerk when the window opens again.

The Hoops made a late offer in January to sign the 24-year-old, who has scored 11 goals for the Dutch club this season, but Utrecht declined his offer.

Kerk then insisted that he wouldn’t have moved to Scotland anyway because he’s keen to turn to English football instead.

But Eredivisie team manager van den Brom believes Neil Lennon remains interested in the exciting big man.

He said: “At the moment there is no concrete offer for Gyrano, but Celtic was the club most interested.

“I suspect that the coronavirus pandemic will suspend most transfers at this time, but I believe that the transfer window will be extended until September this year.

“And when that happens, I think there will be a lot of interest in Gyrano again. We expect this. “

Utrecht owner Frans van Seumeren revealed in February that Celtic had attempted to wrest Kerk out of the transfer window.

He said, “Many clubs have asked about Kerk, but they have never turned into actual offers. The only club that made an offer was Celtic.

“I am surprised that we have not received more interest to be honest because he is a player who is constantly a threat and involved in most of our goals. “

Celtic only got two players instead in the last transfer window – Ismaila Soro and Patryk Klimala.
