Last weekend Saturday Night Live, Cecily Strong usurped the identity of Michigan’s governor, Gretchen Whitmer, who took the lead in dealing with Trump and our country’s anti-quarantine gunmen by drinking a hastily made Labatt Blue accessory. Except that Labatt, while delicious, is not a Michigan beer company. It is a beer born from our beautiful neighbor to the north, Canada. To correct the sketch error, Whitmer sent Strong a themed skincare pack that was pretty much entirely around Michigan’s many fine drinks. We can’t talk about their respective tastes, but they probably help get the job done just as quickly.
“I received a giant and gorgeous skincare package from Michigan to New York with the kind permission of this super cool Michigan woman,” Strong posted on Instagram. “Thank you @gewhitmer !!! Honestly, it blew me away! And thank you @sudigreen and @frangillespie for always writing great fun pieces. I’m sorry I can’t share with you in person, so thank you from afar! If this is the level of gratitude that famous people have for their flattering imitations, Dr. Fauci must be at home sculpting Brad Pitt a statue in pure Cararra marble or something after last week.
