The number of deaths from coronavirus in France continues to drop during the week, according to the latest statistics from the country’s Ministry of Health.
A total of 67 deaths were recorded at the hospital on Wednesday, a decrease of 25 cases from those reported on Tuesday. The total number of hospital deaths to date is 18,260 and the total in nursing homes is 10,335.
Since the start of the outbreak, the number of deaths in France has risen to 28,596, with cases of infection rising to 145,746, an increase of 191 cases from the previous day.
The number of hospitalizations fell significantly on Wednesday, with the number of cases settling at 15,680, down from 584 patients the previous day. People in intensive care fell to 1,501, down 54 patients from Tuesday.
Despite the severity of the virus, most people experience mild symptoms and recover. Since the start of disease registration, 66,854 people have recovered from the epidemic in France and have returned home.
Originating in China last December, COVID-19, the coronavirus disease, has spread to 188 countries and regions around the world. Europe and the United States are currently the most affected regions.
The pandemic has killed nearly 353,000 people, with total infections reaching nearly 5.64 million, while more than 2.32 million people have recovered from the disease, according to figures compiled by American Johns Hopkins University .
