Public Health England figures released on Wednesday May 20 show that the number of covid-19 cases in the city has risen to 1,361.

The previous NHS England announcement brings the number of coronavirus-related deaths to 311 at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

There is no public breakdown to indicate how many victims are from Sunderland.

According to the latest figures released by Public Health England on Wednesday May 20, there are 9,684 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the North East – an increase of 74 from Tuesday May 19 – as follows:
