Drake apologized for calling Kylie Jenner a “secondary piece” in an unreleased track that also makes rough references to her sister Kendall Jenner and model Gigi Hadid.
The Canadian rapper went on his Instagram on Wednesday to clarify that it was an old song from three years ago, and said he did not want to offend his “friends”, probably Jenner, 22 , and boyfriend on / off, fellow rapper Travis Scott, 28.
“A song that Mark performed last night on the soundtrack of night owls should not have been played. It’s a song that leaked 3 years ago and was dropped soon after. It was also going to stay in the drake / future catalog, ”wrote Drake on Instagram.
Say sorry: Drake apologized for calling Kylie Jenner “a side play” in an old song that was accidentally played on Wednesday
He added, “The last thing I want to do is wake up with one of my disrespectful friends, so I just had to say it to start the day. “
In the song – which features rapper Future – Drake is heard to boast: “Yeah, I’m a hater for society / Real s ***, Kylie Jenner which is a secondary piece / Yeah, I got 20 motherf *** in ‘Kylies. ‘
A “side” is a slang word for a mistress, and is commonly used to describe someone who has an affair on the side of another relationship.
The song also refers to Kylie’s sister, Kendall, and model girlfriend Gigi, the rappers proclaiming, “Yeah, I have 20 fucking bad guys Kendalls / Young slim and they’re in vogue / Yeah, I 20 f *** in ‘Gigis’.
The controversy surrounding the song is particularly noticeable because Drake and Jenner were already linked last year.
After separation from boyfriend Scott – the father of two-year-old daughter Stormi – Jenner made the headlines when she was seen attending Drake’s 33rd birthday last fall, which caused reports of a romance between the two.
Go back: Drake then went to Instagram to apologize for the song, explaining that it was not supposed to be played during the broadcast and that he would never want to “disrespect” any of his friends.
At the time, an insider told Us Weekly that Drake “always had something for Kylie,” adding that the feeling was “mutual.”
“They have known and been friends for a very long time and there has always been a spark, but their situation is complicated, just like Kylie with Travis,” the source told Us Weekly.
However, there have been no other sightings of the pair together and more recently Jenner has sparked rumors that she has now reconciled with boyfriend Scott.
Ouch: The song also refers to Gigi Hadid and Kylie Jenner’s sister, Kendall
The couple spent time in quarantine co-parenting with their daughter, and Jenner also praised Scott for his birthday last month, calling him “the dad of the year.”
Although Scott and Jenner were not together at the time of the romance rumors about Drake, sources say he was not really “thrilled” with the situation.
“Travis was obviously never delighted that Kylie was hanging out with other guys. He’s very protective of Kylie, “a source told People earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Drake has already been involved in a feud with Jenner Kanye West’s brother-in-law since around 2018, when rapper Yeezus is said to have revealed that Drake had a secret son with co-worker Pusha-T, who then turned gossip in a series of diss tracks.
Interestingly, Drake’s song that has no title yet is not the first time Drake drops Kylie’s name in a song.
Rapper In My Feelings compared his bank account to Jenner’s billions on his Demons track from his recently released Dark Lane demo tapes.
“My TD Bank is on what?” (What?) / My TD Bank is on Kylie (Ayy, ayy), ”he says.
