David Crosby spoke on Wednesday of the tragic death of his biological son Beckett Cypher with several short messages.
78-year-old musician donated sperm to Melissa Etheridge and ex-partner Julie Cypher so they could conceive Beckett and his sister Bailey, something the non-traditional family revealed in a 2000 issue of Rolling Stone.
He said after the devastating news of the death of Beckett at the age of 21 that he had been active in the life of his son.
He responded to a fan tweet that said, “I respectfully point out that David was their donor … They didn’t have a son” with “him. He was the child of Melissa and Julie. They raised it. Like most donors, he played no other role. “
“This is not true,” he replied.
He also said he doubted his former group mates Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young would put their rocky past behind them and reach out after the tragedy.
