This is the ninth case in the region in just over a week after a health professional who contracted the coronavirus outside the province failed to isolate himself after his return to New Brunswick.

The new case, which is under investigation, is a person in his 60s.

To date, 129 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in New Brunswick and 120 people have recovered from the disease.

Three people are hospitalized and no patient is in intensive care.

India extended its coronavirus lockout until June 30 in high-risk areas, but allowed restaurants, malls and religious buildings to reopen elsewhere from June 8 despite a record number of cases detected on Saturday in all the countries.
