COVID-19 epidemic declared in the nursing home in the village of Finlandia

Finlandia Village Nursing Home declared a COVID-19 outbreak after an employee tested positive through continuous targeted surveillance of staff and residents of long-term care homes.

The last case was a Greater Sudbury woman in her thirties who was tested on May 6 and has since been ordered to isolate herself.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts cannot say how the woman was exposed because she is not in close contact with another confirmed case and has not traveled recently.

There are now four active outbreaks in long-term care homes in the region, following the resolution of one, directly related to four active cases among residents and seven among staff.
