Coronavirus: Quebec will supply 1 million masks to Montreal


The Quebec government will donate one million masks to Montreal, hard hit, as part of the fight against the new coronavirus pandemic, the provincial premier announced on Friday.

François Legault said that public transit authorities in the greater Montreal area will also receive $ 6 million so they can buy masks and give them to commuters.

Masks are not mandatory, but Legault stressed that people should wear them when using public transportation. He said residents of neighborhoods considered hot spots should wear masks when in public.

Quebec has more than 41,420 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, almost half of which are in the greater Montreal region. Respiratory disease killed 3,401 people after 50 new deaths on Friday.
