Coronavirus New York: how the Manhattan street corner explodes in the evening of outdoor dance at 7 p.m.

MURRAY HILL, Manhattan (WABC) – A street corner in Murray Hill burst into an outdoor dance party most nights at 7 p.m. all because of a neighbor. Mathias Jorge has been blowing upbeat music from his fourth-story window for several minutes after the nightly applause of front-line workers.

During the non-pandemic period, the native of Uruguay works in the nightlife.

Many of those who gathered at the corner of 38th Street and 2nd Avenue to enjoy the music are medical professionals.

Most people seem to like what Mathias is doing, but he says he stopped playing music every night because of concerns that too many people were gathering.

He also has a neighbor who continues to call the police.
