Coronavirus: “Locking is the opportunity of a lifetime for cycle paths”

London has announced plans to create the largest car-free zones in Europe. He wants to encourage cycling, so that people can move around while respecting social distance. Several European cities are taking similar measures.

Gil Penalosa of 880 Cities, an urban reform group, says locking in during the coronavirus epidemic represents a “lifetime opportunity” to make cities more bicycle-friendly.

But some industry groups disagree, and many city residents have resisted these policies in the past.
