18 other people died in hospitals in the North East
Eighteen other people died in hospitals in the Northeast after contracting a coronavirus.
The NHS England has announced 331 new deaths from people who test positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals to 22,049.
Of these, 54 occurred on May 5, 121 on May 4 and 28 on May 3.
Figures also show that 28 of the new deaths occurred on May 1 and on May 2, 84 occurred in April, while the remaining 16 died in March, the earliest on March 13.
In the Northeast, County Durham and Darlington reported seven more deaths while South Tees reported the second highest number in the region with four.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson returned to the House of Commons for the first time since falling ill and revealed that the lockdowns could be relaxed on Monday.
Johnson will update the nation in a public address on Sunday before making a statement in the House on Monday.
