China has released a short animation titled “Once upon a time, there was a virus”, making fun of the American response to the new coronavirus by using Lego-type figures to represent the two countries.

Washington and Beijing are locked in a war of words over the origins of the disease, which emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan and has become a global pandemic.

US President Donald Trump said Thursday he was convinced the coronavirus could have come from a Chinese virology laboratory, but declined to describe the evidence.

In the animation published online by the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, red curtains open to reveal a scene with Lego-type figures in the form of a terracotta warrior wearing a facial mask and the Statue of Liberty.

“We have discovered a new virus,” says the warrior.

” So what? Answers the Statue of Liberty. “It’s just a flu. “
