Charlize Theron is already an immortal warrior in our eyes, so it’s not too much of a leap for the actress to play one in a new Netflix epic. Theron directs the cast of The old guard, a film adaptation of a writer Greg Rucka and artist Leandro FernandezThe comic book series about “a secret group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when their extraordinary abilities are exposed”.
The first images of the epic action carried out by Gina Prince-Bythewood were released, giving us our first look at Theron rocking a new short haircut and kicking ass alongside If Beale Street could speak KiKi Layne.
The first look of the old guard
Vanity Fair debuted the first images of The old guard, a fantastic new action movie from Netflix that promises to show Charlize Theron back in action mode – and back in a short Furiosa-style cut. That this means The old guard will match the bomb of Mad Max: Fury Road hasn’t been seen yet, but Theron looks good on the new footage. The film seems less whimsical, more gritty action thriller, which is the tone that director Prince-Bythewood aims for, drawing more inspiration from films like Zero Dark Thirty and Man on fire than superhero comics, according to Vanity Fair.
“I never wanted a moment to deprive an audience of the fact that they could be real people,” Prince Bythewood told the channel. “He is someone who can get stabbed and walked away, but it will hurt. … She’s a 6000 year old living woman, and we come to her when she wants it to end. “

Theron embodies the immortal warrior Andromache of Scythia, now portrayed by “Andy”, who leads an elite team of immortal confreres gathered over the centuries. There is a French soldier who fought alongside Napoleon (Rust and bone’S Matthias Schoenaerts), two former enemies of the Crusades (Every blessed day’S Luca Marinelli and Aladdin’S Marwan Kenzari), and the most recent member, a U.S. Marine named Nile Freeman (Layne), whose discovery of his new supernatural abilities kicks off the film.
