A representative from Cruise Planners told TMZ that the cruise line “is not a little worried about traveling at the moment.”
“We are taking a measured approach, focusing on the navigation potential from a number of home ports where we have larger operations that are easily accessible by car for the majority of our customers,” said Carnival in a press release last week.
The return date of August 1 is not set. The company explained that there is no guarantee of resumption of services at this time, this is only a preliminary estimate: “We continue to work with various government agencies, including the CDC, so that we are introducing new protocols on board, but there is no guarantee that a return on August 1st. “
The cruise ship Diamond Princess was notorious at the start of the coronavirus pandemic for having been quarantined and suffered 712 confirmed cases and 14 deaths. The CDC recommended that cruise lines “defer all cruise ship travel around the world”.
