Canadians get along with forward Cameron Hillis


MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to enter into a three-year entry-level contract (2020-21 to 2022-23) with forward Cameron Hillis.

Hillis, 19, was second on the team in points (83) in 62 games with the OHL Guelph Storm in 2019-20. He led his team in assists (59 – seventh in the OHL) and differential (+28). The Storm captain scored a power play goal and six game winners last season.

The Oshawa, Ont. Native has played 155 career games with Guelph since his junior debut in 2017-2018. Hillis had 164 points (54 goals, 110 assists) and 118 penalty minutes, while posting a +6 rating. He was also named to the OHL’s first rookie all-star team after his first season with the Storm. The 5’10 ”and 171 lb forward added three points (1-2-3) in eight career playoff games.

Hillis was selected by the Canadians in the third round, 66th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He participated in the Canadian development camps in 2018 and 2019.
