Today, NHS leaders make the headlines and warn that the government will not have enough time to launch its test and trace system if a second wave of coronavirus is to be avoided.
Niall Dickson, executive director of the NHS Confederation – which represents health care organizations, wrote to Secretary of Health Matt Hancock because members were “concerned” about the apparent lack of a clear strategy .
“So we invite you to develop such a strategy with a clear implementation plan before further easing of the lockdown,” said Dickson in his letter.
Testing, tracking and tracing – TTT – means testing people for the coronavirus, tracking the spread of the virus, and then finding the people with whom an infected person has come into contact. The government’s own scientific advisers have said that such a system is essential to any lifting of the lockdown.
