B&Q announces new rules on who can shop in its stores


DIY retailer B&Q reopened all of its stores this week – including its Gloucestershire locations.

And now the company has announced new rules on who can shop in its stores according to the Manchester Evening News.

B&Q has asked all buyers to limit their group to no more than two people and is not allowed to include people under the age of 16.

Those planning to do DIY should also follow the social distancing guidelines that have been set by the government and should only take essential trips.

The retailer is one of many county reopeners and B&Q has put together a list of answers to some of its most frequently asked questions to help shoppers get to one of the stores.

What B&Q stores are open and what are the opening hours?

The DIY retailer has opened all of its stores – except the ROI and Guernsey stores – and they are all open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday hours vary from store to store, so the best thing to do is check the store locator for details on your local store.

Will B&Q return policy be extended?

B&Q has extended its return policy so buyers no longer have to worry about returning items, but now that stores have reopened, as long as you meet all of the other conditions of our return policy – including requirements proof of purchase – you can take items back to the store as usual.

Retailer is unable to offer refunds or exchanges for items that have been cut to size, custom made or blended or products that may deteriorate or expire quickly, including perishable products such as plants or lawn, will not be exchanged or refunded unless they are defective or poorly delivered.

What security measures are in place in open stores?

The retailer has put in place “strict social distancing measures,” including disinfection stations to ensure the carts are ready to go, a safe queue two meters apart. outside the store, as well as two-meter “ground navigation markers” and Plexiglas screens at checkouts.

Stores also only accept contactless payments and appointments for wood cutting, paint mixing and design are temporarily unavailable.

Buyers are invited to limit their group to a maximum of two and not to bring those under the age of 16.

What products can I buy and why can’t I order what I usually buy from B&Q?

The reopened stores offer a wide range of items you can take with you during the day. However, services such as kitchen and bathroom design, mixing paint, cutting wood, etc. are not available.

Online, they offer a reduced range that has been modified to meet most home improvement needs while providing the best shopping experience possible in times of extremely high demand.

The retailer apologizes if an item is temporarily unavailable for you to order now.

Are the garden centers open and what can I buy?

The store offers its full range and the garden centers have reopened as part of the store’s reopening program.

The reopened stores offer a range of plants, composts, tools, pots and other gardening needs.

Can I still place a Click + Collect order and hHow long does it take for my order to be ready?

Click + Collect is available on diy.com for a limited range of products. The goal is to have overnight service, however, it may take several days for orders to be ready, and may be temporarily unavailable during peak hours.

Items will be available for collection in the store, as usual, and the collection point for reopened stores is at the Click + Collect office in the store, and for stores that remain closed, at the parking collection point.

You will be contacted when your order is ready to be picked up and you cannot go to the store until you have received confirmation that your order is ready. Once you have received this confirmation, you should go to the store as soon as possible.

Collections can be made from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Usual trading hours apply on Sundays and items will be kept for up to two days.

If you are unable to collect your order, it will be canceled and a refund processed – it may take up to 14 days to appear on your statement.
