The legend of comedy died at the beginning of the month of natural causes. He was 92 years old.
Meet The Parents and Zoolander star Ben, 54, says he is so thankful that he was able to do it alongside his father.
Speaking to the New Yorker, Ben said that he and his sister Amy, 58, had been able to spend time with their father in the past few days due to the fact that he had no symptoms of coronavirus.
He said, “He was slowing down a lot and he was facing a lot of problems. And so the last week or two has been more difficult for him. But he went peacefully, and he had a sense of humor, for sure, until the end. “
“I hesitate to call it a sense of humor. He was just funny, and so he was still himself. He was almost ninety-three, and I think his body was a little bit at this point where it was time. “
Ben confirmed the sad news that his father, who starred with him in several films, died in a Twitter statement on May 11.
He wrote, “I am sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, died of natural causes.
“He was a great-grandfather and grandfather, and Anne’s most devoted husband for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. I love you dad. “
Jerry was best known for his roles in Seinfeld, as the father of George Costanzas, Frank, and in King of Queens, as Arthur Spooner.
He also starred in Zoolander 1 and 2 with his son, as well as in the heavyweights, Hot Pursuit and The Heartbreak Kid.
