BBC Springwatch host Michaela Strachan “missed” by colleagues during lockout

Presenters at Springwatch say they will miss co-host Michaela Strachan during the lockdown, calling her “the glue that holds everything together.”

Strachan, 54, who has hosted the show alongside Chris Packham since 2011, is in Cape Town, South Africa, where she lives with her husband and son.

His entry into the new series will only be a selection of his favorite moments over the years.

Packham, 59, who has worked with her on BBC wildlife shows for three decades, admitted he would fight without her.

He said: “My attitude has always been a little cavalier. I’m still five minutes late – I don’t read the script on time or the notes.

“Michaela is extremely professional. She is always on time, sober, well presented, well prepared.

“We have very different approaches and a combination of these is the reason why we have always worked together for 28 years.

He added, “Of course, I will miss that, not just the on-screen jokes but also the off-screen jokes. “

The new series returns to BBC next Tuesday, produced on the Packham farm in New Forest, Hampshire.
