Barcelona agree to Liverpool transfer to Roberto Firmino and drop Argentine striker

Barcelona have been said to forget to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez and to step forward for Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino.

Firmino has been an integral part of the Reds since his arrival almost five years ago and marked the winner of the FIFA Club World Cup final against Flamengo in December.

Barcelona are looking to rebuild their strike force with Luis Suarez about to leave, and have been closely linked to Argentinian international Martinez.

But former Barcelona and Stoke City striker Bojan thinks Firmino would be a wiser buy.

“Inter Milan usually does not take the initiative and it makes me think that Lautaro could occupy an area at Barça that is not naturally his own,” he said.

“(It is) something that would certainly be a shame.

“If you allow me a name, I would bet more on Roberto Firmino: a link player, with a lot of presence and great mobility.

“I do not intend this reflection to be interpreted as a refusal to sign Martinez, but I understand that his profile must be very well analyzed because it would be unforgivable that, as happened with Antoine Griezmann, we signed an attacker to put it on the wing, then complain that it does not work.

“This cannot happen again because, even if it seems obvious, a new one is a new one.

“It’s his natural habitat and to move him away is to waste his talent. If Barça needs a new one, sign it, but do it to really use it. “

Barcelona will waste its time, however, with Liverpool having no intention of hosting Firmino’s departure in the immediate future.
