Armed police surround village pub in dramatic coronavirus locking swoop


It was the dramatic moment when the armed police surrounded a village pub during the lockout on Saturday evening.

Dramatic footage shows officers, armed with rifles, diving into the White Horse Inn in Otham, Kent, following reports of unrest.

One photo shows a topless man kneeling on the floor while an armed officer stands above him.

He puts his hands behind his back while the officer shouts orders to him.

Armed officers can also be seen standing guard at the scene with a police cordon in place after the arrests.

A Kent police spokesperson said that armed officers treated the incident outside and then entered the pub.

Six men and two women were arrested during the raid, police said.

Kent police said in a statement: “Eight people were arrested after Kent police, including armed patrols, witnessed a disturbance in Otham.

“A large number of people were allegedly involved in a verbal and physical altercation at White Horse Lane shortly before midnight on Saturday May 2, 2020.

“Witnesses also reported seeing a possible weapon. Upon arrival, police arrested six men and two women suspected of fighting and were detained while investigations continue.
