This is the picture all Aston Villa fans have been waiting for – John McGinn is at Bodymoor Heath, preparing for the return of the Premier League.

The Scottish international has been offside since the end of last year when his impressive first season in the elite was interrupted by an injury.

McGinn suffered a broken ankle in the home loss to Southampton, raising concerns that her season would be over.

After initially targeting Wembley’s sensational comeback for the Carabao Cup final, the midfielder was forced to watch from the sidelines as Villa lost to Man City.

And his return was almost complete, with the hope that he would be in Dean Smith’s team for the Chelsea game at the end of March – the first Villa match to be suspended due to the coronavirus. .

This means that Villa has been waiting for almost six months for McGinn’s return. Smith’s players returned to training at Bodymoor Heath last week, with all team members following social distancing guidelines.

Images come out of training regularly, showing Jack Grealish, Keinan Davis, Douglas Luiz and many more put to the test.

But Villa fans on social media worried that they hadn’t seen McGinn in training yet. That changed on Tuesday when the club’s official social media channel posted a photo of the burgundy and blue talisman, boots in hand.

The post has received hundreds of responses from passionate Villa fans and here are some of the best:
