Cargill beef plant near High River, Alberta, is showcased on April 23, 2020
The JBS meat processing plant in Brooks, Alta. plans to return to two shifts a day for the first time in a month.
The company reduced its plant operations to a daily shift between 700 and 1,100 workers after several workers tested positive for COVID-19.
JBS Canada spokesperson Rob Meijer said the company had implemented more than 100 security measures at the facility since January.
He says the two-quarter shift begins tomorrow and will not increase the number of employees who are in the plant at the same time.
Meijer says that in the future, the company will make all decisions based on the best data and best advice possible from public health officials.
More than 500 workers from the JBS plant tested positive for COVID-19 and one died.
