AJK President Urges France To Support Kashmir Struggle

MUZADDARABAD: The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Masood Khan, called on President Emmanuel Macron, the people, the media and the intellectuals of France to support the people in difficulty of Kashmir so that they reach their goal policy of freedom and the right to self-determination in accordance with the ideal of the French Revolution.

“The French Revolution had a tripartite motto: freedom, equality and fraternity. In Jammu and Kashmir, we are also inspired by this triad, which encompasses freedom and self-determination. France should help us determine our political fate, “said the president of the AJK at a Zoom video link conference on Kashmir in Paris.

Organized by Pakistan’s ambassador to France, Moinul Haque, the event brought together French journalists, academics, diplomats and human rights activists.

The event described the latest plight of occupied Kashmir as grave and critical and said that resentment against the Indian occupation forces was at its peak.

President Masood said that under the guise of Covid-19, Indian troops have intensified their repression against the people of Kashmir with the aim of suppressing their spirit of freedom. In addition to killing the Kashmiris, he added that India had taken steps to turn the Muslim majority into a minority in the occupied region, and the recent change in domicile laws granting settlement rights to Hindus is part of the same heinous attempt.

The AJK president said that in the past month alone, 32 young IJJ & K Kashmiris have been martyred and 18 occupying forces have been killed. The disputed territory is turbulent, and there is no “calm” that India projects.

He added that the international community had imposed a lockdown to prevent the victims of Covid-19, but the Indian government had locked down Kashmir to inflict casualties. “The occupied Indian troops practically besieged 8 million Kashmiris, denying them access to food, education, medicine, employment and freedom of expression.”

He also said that the New Delhi action of August 5, the deletion of articles 35-A and 370 of the constitution, and now the modification of the laws on the home violated the resolutions of the Security Council of the United Nations, the Convention of Geneva and other international human rights laws. According to the UN resolution, he said, Kashmir is disputed territory and India or Pakistan cannot unilaterally change its status.

President Masood called on world leaders, intellectuals and the media to take note of India’s inhuman actions in IOJ & K and to make their voices heard for the solution of the Kashmir problem in accordance with the wishes of the people Kashmiri under UN resolutions.

Inviting conference participants to visit and experience for themselves the freedom enjoyed by the people of AJK, he said that India had prohibited the media and human rights organizations from enter IOJ & K, but the doors of Azad Jammu and Kashmir were open to everyone.
