WWE Hall of Fame returns to WrestleMania 36

JBL Michael Cole WrestleMania 36

JBL returned as Michael Cole’s commentator partner for the first night of WrestleMania 36.

The former world champion, who will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, was not present for the kick-off match between Cesaro and Drew Gulak, but quickly joined his former friend Cole behind the office.

This is a familiar place for JBL. He started providing colors on SmackDown alongside Cole in 2006, and recently worked as an advertiser just a few years ago.

Layfield and Cole have good chemistry together, so it was a wise call. It would have been ambitious on the part of WWE to expect Cole to announce the full solo of WrestleMania (even though he did an admirable job on this aforementioned Cesaro vs Gulak pre-show bout), and he has benefited from having different partners on the Performance Center TV Shows in recent weeks.

It’s unclear at this time if JBL will return for Mania’s second night tomorrow, or if WWE has someone else lined up to hold Cole.

There is also no news as to whether this is a one-time concert for Layfield or whether he will be doing more work in the weeks and months to come.
