WRH to ban intensive care visitors Wednesday

A change in the current Windsor Regional Hospital visit policy is coming.

As of midnight Tuesday evening, the hospital will not allow visitors to enter their intensive care unit (ICU). This applies to the metropolitan and Ouellette campuses.

The change is due to an increasing number of positive and likely COVID-19 patients on the hospital premises, and was implemented to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.

All other restrictions previously announced are still in effect, with only one authorized visitor at a time. This includes pediatric emergency patients, mothers who give birth, neonatal intensive care, cancer center patients, palliative care or patients requiring urgent surgery. All visitors must be over 18 years of age.

No visitor will be allowed under any other circumstances.
