Wizz Air becomes the first to resume flights from London to destinations like Spain and Portugal

Low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced that it will resume certain flights from Luton Airport on Friday.

It will become one of the first European airlines to begin restoring failed services during the coronavirus pandemic.

Wizz said in a statement today that cabin crew would wear masks and gloves throughout the flights and distribute disinfectant wipes to each passenger.

His plane would be disinfected overnight, he added.

Flights to several destinations in Romania, as well as Budapest in Hungary, Lisbon in Portugal and Tenerife in Spain would be among those to be resumed, said Wizz.

Flights will resume from Luton on May 1, the airline said.

Wizz Air UK Managing Director Owain Jones said: As we restart certain Luton flights to provide essential service to passengers who need to travel, our primary concern is the health, safety and well-being of our customers and crew.

“The protective measures we are implementing will ensure the most possible health conditions.

“We encourage our customers to watch our new video on how to stay safe while on the go, as well as for more details on our new health and safety measures.”

Speaking to Travel Weekly earlier this week, Wizz Air CEO Josef Varadi said: “The industry will face physical distance. During the first months, the planes will not be filled. “

And he said in an Aviation Week webcast that about 10 percent of the fleet would be in the air on Friday.



Flights to resume from London Luton Airport

He said, “I think we will start to see some easing during the month of May or June, I don’t know.

“What we do know is that it becomes unsustainable.

“Maybe at the end of May or during June, we will be 30%. “

Current advice from the British government is that the British avoid all non-essential world travel indefinitely.
