Why Prince Harry is probably not going to apply for a green card or American citizenship

Prince Harry could have moved to Los Angeles with Duchess Meghan, but don’t expect him to apply for US citizenship, according to a new report.

The Duke of Sussex also has no plans to apply for a green card “for the foreseeable future”, according to
Time. In addition, the publication indicates that the couple’s move to the United States may not be a very permanent thing.

“The duke has not applied for dual nationality and I don’t think he will ever ask for a green card at any time,” a source told the newspaper.

Meghan was born in Los Angeles, which would certainly make it easier for Harry to obtain American citizenship if he wanted to. But if he did, he would have to pay taxes on all the income he earned in the world. Given expert forecasts of the millions of dollars Harry and Meghan could make, that would mean that American citizenship would prove to be very costly in the long run. He would also be forced to give up his titles, which the Sussexes did not do after resigning from their post as members of the royal family. Both are
do not use their HRH titles as part of an agreement reached on their future earlier this year, but will keep them.

There is
US visa options available to British citizens, but it is unclear which Harry would have obtained before entering the country. If he’s there on a 90-day tourist visa, he wouldn’t be allowed to work in the United States.

Earlier this week, Harry and Meghan revealed their
non-profit foundation will be called Archewell. They planned to call him Sussex Royal, but that was removed from the table when they resigned as members of the royal family.

“Before SussexRoyal came up with the idea of” the ark “- the Greek word for” source of action “,” the couple said in a statement.

“We connected to this concept for the charity we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. Do something meaningful, do something that matters. and action, and another one that talks about the deep resources we all need to tap into. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right. “

Before their move to the City of Angels, Harry, Meghan and
Archie had stayed in a house on Vancouver Island in the city of North Saanich, just north of the capital of British Columbia, Victoria. They have spent most of their time there since November, when they took a six-week break from royal office.
