Vauxhall has confirmed prices in the UK for its updated Insignia, which is available to order now in a total of five trim levels, including a 2.0-liter GSi performance option of 227 hp.

Prices start at £ 23,120 for the SE Nav, which includes smartphone connectivity, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, dual-zone air conditioning, 17-inch alloy wheels and automatic emergency braking in standard. SRi Nav models, available from £ 24,620, benefit from an additional kit including ambient LED lighting, subtle rear spoiler and chrome top windows.

Towards the top of the range are SRi VX-Line Nav and Ultimate Nav, which each start from £ 27,620, but the featured introduction is the new GSi, which contains a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 227 hp and 258 lb ft. This power is delivered by a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Priced from £ 38,850, the high-performance executive hatchback has also been fitted with an all-wheel drive that uses a torque vectoring system to improve handling when cornering. The GSi also gets Brembo four-piston brakes, a new adaptive Flexride suspension, custom 20-inch gray alloy wheels and adjustments to the steering configuration.

Details of the GSi have been revealed alongside all the details of a revamped engine line-up for the Insignia. The entry-level unit is a three-cylinder 1.4-liter turbo petrol with 143 hp and 174 lb-ft, using a six-speed manual transmission for WLTP-certified fuel economy from 45.6 mpg.

In addition to the 227 hp version, the 2.0-liter engine will be offered in a 197 hp version from SRi Nav, using the nine-speed automatic transmission. It is the first Vauxhall engine to deactivate the cylinders to reduce fuel consumption. The low-power version allows WLTP fuel economy of up to 37.2 mpg, compared to 33.2 mpg of the more powerful unit.
