Troy Deeney Says Man Utd Can’t Attract Players Better Than Paul Pogba

Watford forward Troy Deeney conceded that Manchester United should be wary of selling midfielder Paul Paul Pogba because they can no longer attract quality players to replace him.

The World Cup winner has been linked to a removal of Old Trafford in the next transfer window after spending most of the season away from an ankle injury.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola hinted that his client could go to Real Madrid, admitting last month that he wanted to “take a great footballer” to the Spanish giants.

Veteran Premier League striker Deeney told The United Stand: “You let him go, you take a hit on the £ 90 million you spent, you let him go for £ 50 million, that is it going better than Man United attracts?

“You weren’t watching much [Odion] Ighalo last year. so where is your market, who is your replacement?

“You have to take a hit, whether it’s £ 75 million, it’s like [Romelu] Lukaku, you let Lukaku go and then you had to go get Ighalo. Iggy ran to the ground and still scores, but it’s not Lukaku. “

Pogba caused a sensation last summer when he admitted that “it might be a good time for a new challenge,” but Deeney understood the feelings of the statement.

He added, “Don’t you think, however, where United finished last season, no finals or anything and he’s a world class player, won the World Cup by saying : ‘I’m not sure I’m going to stay for that’, is that wrong?

“He says that one of the top three clubs in terms of revenue, one of the biggest clubs in the world does not dispute anything, I could look at another team that is. “

“The way he would have bypassed, or said or communicated it, 100%, you may disagree with that.

“If Bruno [Fernandes] turned around next year, year-round at Man United, finished sixth and said, “I think I’m going to leave, it’s not for me,” nowhere does he get the same amount of stick than Pogba. “
