Total wins more than 135 MW of projects in the latest national solar tender

  • The future largest solar power plant on the ground in France: the 50 MWp solar power plant in Valenciennes is the largest project awarded to tender and the largest solar power plant by Total Quadran to date. It will be installed on the former Total refinery refurbished by RETIA2. The solar plant will supply green electricity to nearly 32,000 people when it is commissioned in 2022.
    • the largest photovoltaic power plant in the Paris region: located near the Grandpuits refinery, the 25 MWp solar power plant will be the largest in the Paris region. It will produce enough renewable electricity to cover the needs of nearly 17,000 people. The plant is expected to be operational by 2022.

As part of its ambition to become the leader in responsible energy, Total is building a portfolio of low-carbon electrical activities, with the aim of seeing them represent 15 to 20% of its sales mix by 2040. Today Today, Total’s gross low carbon electricity production capacity is close to 7 gigawatts, including 3 gigawatts from renewable energy sources.

With more than 6 GW of solar projects announced since early 2020, the Group is well on its way to achieving its target of 25 GW of installed capacity for the production of electricity from renewable sources by 2025.

Total Quadran, pioneer of renewable energies in France, develops, builds and exploits renewable electricity production resources (wind, photovoltaic, hydraulic and biogas). Total Quadran operates more than 300 renewable energy plants in France totaling nearly 1,000 MW, generating 1,765 GWh of renewable electricity per year. This is equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly a million people and the annual savings of almost 560,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Total is a major energy player that produces and markets fuels, natural gas and low-carbon electricity. Our 100,000 employees are committed to better energy, safer, more affordable, cleaner and accessible to as many people as possible. Active in more than 130 countries, our ambition is to become the responsible energy major.
