Tom Hanks acts as surprise host of “SNL at Home”

A few days ago, it was announced that SNL would return this week using a new “At Home” format. After being paused for just over a month, the series would now include actors and crew who engaged in social distancing, airing monologues and segments they did at home. What was not announced for SNL at Home was the host and / or musical guest – or even if there was something resembling these roles. In a surprise move, from his own residence, Tom Hanks acted as SNL with the host of Home, qualifying as “famous canary in the coal mine for coronavirus”, having been diagnosed with COVID-19, with his wife Rita Wilson, back in early March, they were in Australia where Hanks was filming a biopic of Elvis Presley. “Saturdays no longer exist, every day is just today,” joked Hanks, also noting “This is the first time I have worn anything other than sweat pants since March 11. “

And if you think Hanks was shocked to be the host, take a look at his son Colin Hanks’ tweet …

The last SNL to air was back on March 7 and starred host Daniel Craig, whose film No Time to Die had already been delayed until November. Craig usurped James Bond with his southern accent in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out.
