Timothee Chalamet in the dune of Denis Villeneuve: PHOTO

Good night, sweet prince of space.

Vanity Fair keeps fans waiting for the first glances at the science fiction epic of Denis Villeneuve, Dune. The first frame of the film was dropped today, but the rest – including, hopefully, glances at Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya – won’t come until tomorrow. So we’re going to have to sit here, be patient and eat what they fed us: a photo of Timothée Chalamet. Chalamet embodies the young prince Paul Atreides, who rejects the adventure for which he seems destined. “The immediately appealing thing about Paul was the fact that in a story of detail, scale and construction of the world, the protagonist is somehow on an antihero journey,” Chalamet told Vanity Fair. At first glance, the transport ships are on their way to take Atreides and his family to their new kingdom. Walking along a gray, desolate beach in black, a pinched and worried look on his face, Chalamet reminds us of another serious space prince, Kylo Ren. Of course, no one can duplicate the greatness of Adam Driver, but this photo absolutely has the sad energy of Kylo Ren. Maybe with a slightly better taste. Instead of covering this porcelain doll face with a mask, like the imperial chief, Atreides wears what appears to be a woolen coat, leather gloves and a belt with a large square buckle. Yes, he’s moving to a hot desert planet, but that doesn’t mean he can’t get through dripping.
