Three more COVID-19 cases in the Kingston area, up to 46 in total – Kingston


According to KFL & A Public Health, Wednesday afternoon, there were a total of 46 cases of COVID-19 in the region.

Of these 46 people, three are currently hospitalized for the virus. A 70-year-old woman who was originally hospitalized has since been released from the hospital.

No details have been given for the last 12 individuals who contracted the disease.

There are also currently seven health care workers in the Kingston area who have caught COVID-19. Two at local health clinics, one at Kingston General Hospital, three at Providence Care Hospital and one at Providence Manor.

On a conference call on Wednesday, Dr. Kieran Moore, medical officer of health for KFL & A Public Health, said that many of the most recent cases they meet are in close contact with the cases identified days ago and weeks.

“Mnone of them is yet in contact with these returning travelers, “said Moore.

Moore said that only a few positive cases appeared to originate from community transmission, unrelated to recent travel or close contact.

Although the region is experiencing new cases every day, public health is not experiencing huge daily jumps, added Moore.

The numbers are not increasing significantly. They are in a stable state of three to five cases per day. “
