The essential retailer, which has reopened 61 branches in total, welcomed thousands of customers before the three-day heat wave.
B&Q has been closed since the end of March after the UK lockout, although customers have been able to use click and collect services to purchase goods.
However, it is now reopened with new security measures in place.
Under government guidelines, hardware stores are allowed to open during the critical period, however, customers should focus only on “essential” items and personnel safety should be a priority.
But, as hordes of buyers fill parking lots across the UK, there is a question mark over whether sales will have an “essential” objective.
The company said it has now introduced strict social distancing measures to protect buyers and staff.
A spokesperson said that there were two-meter floor markers in stores to help people keep their distance and their Plexiglas screens at checkouts.
Services such as kitchen and bathroom design, paint mixing, wood cutting and key cutting were also suspended.
The store will also only accept card and contactless payments.
A B&Q spokesperson said, “As an essential retailer, we have observed other essential retailers supporting social distancing in their stores and are now able to follow best practices and reopen a small number of our stores. on a trial basis, while keeping our colleagues and customers safe.
“We strictly limit the number of customers in the store at any time. Customers may therefore need to queue before entering the store.
“To help remind everyone to respect their personal space, we have two-meter floor markers in all of these stores and also Perspex screens at checkouts. “
Customers visiting stores will only be able to purchase products available in stores on the same day.
