“This is a real emergency”: El Paso virus cases reach 115, according to a great doctor “it will only get worse”

EL PASO, Texas – The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in El Paso County reached 115 on Sunday, while public health officials reported nine new cases.

Of the 115 cases, 27 El Pasoans were hospitalized – with ten of the ICU patients, officials said.

As the number of cases continues to grow, authorities say this is due in part to non-compliance with city and county orders to “stay home, work safe” in social distancing .

“We continue to receive complaints about businesses and residents who do not follow these guidelines. As city and county officials work to investigate these complaints and enforce the new orders, I must point out that the number of positive cases will accelerate dramatically in the next few years. weeks and it will only get worse, “said Dr. Hector Ocaranza, city / county health official.

He added: “This is a real emergency and we need everyone to take responsibility and insist on strict cooperation.”

Under orders, residents are required to stay at home except for essential errands or to work in essential businesses.
