COVID-19 claimed the lives of two other residents of a long-term care home in Bobcaygeon, bringing the total number of facility-related deaths to 17, officials said.
Michelle Snarr, medical director of Pinecrest Nursing Home, told CTV News on Thursday that two other residents of the long-term care home died overnight.
To date, 16 residents of the nursing home and the spouse of one of the residents have died after being infected with the virus.
Residents of long-term care homes across the province have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
Several deaths have been reported in Ontario facilities and public health officials confirmed on Wednesday that there were at least 30 outbreaks in long-term care homes across the province.
The Toronto Department of Public Health said on Wednesday that eight residents of the Seven Oaks long-term care facility in Scarborough have now died from the virus.
