The number of deaths from coronavirus in France is increasing, but more positive signs

PARIS (Reuters) – France recorded an additional 761 deaths from coronavirus infections on Friday, bringing the total to 18,681, the fourth highest total in the world, but the number of people hospitalized declined for the third consecutive day .

And, in another sign that the lock put in place a month ago is working, Jerome Salomon, head of the public health authority, said that the number of people in the intensive care units (ICU) had dropped for the ninth consecutive day, at 6.027, a low point since April 1.

At 18,681, the number of deaths increased 4.2% over 24 hours, the rate of increase decelerating for the second consecutive day.
