The number of deaths from a coronavirus in France is increasing again, almost 21,000


PARIS – France on Tuesday recorded an additional 531 deaths from coronavirus infections, bringing the total to 20,796, the fourth highest total in the world, while the rate of increase in deaths has slowed again.

The number of people hospitalized declined for the seventh consecutive day while the total number of patients in intensive care units fell for the 13th consecutive time, to 5,433 – the lowest level since March 30.

France’s public health chief Jerome Salomon said at a press conference that the pandemic remains “massive”. (Report by Benoit Van Overstraeten; Editing by Chris Reese)
