The future of former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho could have taken a different turn

Barcelona manager Quique Setien has hinted that Philippe Coutinho could return to Camp Nou after his loan at Bayern Munich ends.

Coutinho has struggled to find form since moving to Liverpool from Spain in January 2018 and is currently on loan for a season with German giants.

The Brazilian sealed a move to the La Liga in a £ 142m deal, costing the Reds only £ 8.5m when he joined Inter Milan in January 2013.

But after struggling to carve out a place in Barça’s starting lineup, Coutinho joined the Bundesliga this summer.

A return to the Premier League has been reported in recent months, his agent, Kia Joorabchian, confirming that he would like to return to the top flight in England.

“The Premier League is something he has always loved to play, and loved to play, and would probably love to come back and play,” he said recently.

But Setien has now seemed to put a stop to Coutinho’s conversation leaving the club this summer.

“Coutinho? I like it very much, “he said on Catalan radio RAC 1.

“He is still a Barcelona player. You must pay the clause or transfer fees to Barça. I think he can be here early next season.

“I don’t know if he wants to come back or leave, I have to speak to him to ask him. He’s a great player, there’s no question about it. “
