Well, it finally happened.

Although the show technically continued, WWE has been on hold since mid-March, when the severity of the coronavirus pandemic became apparent. Without the crowds that are so critical to the show, WWE feels like it lacks its vital essence, the show it has mastered for more than half a century.

But WrestleMania 36 arrived last night, or at least the first part. And the intrigue will continue after last night and tonight. Who got the best and least out of last night’s production? Who got the biggest springboards for the coming year of WWE?

Losers: The Kabuki Warriors

Asuka and Kairi Sane lost the women’s team championships last night to Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss. Cross and Bliss were, of course, the previous champions, so things just feel like going back on the bike.

It may be time for Asuka and Kairi Sane to both return to singles competition. WWE certainly doesn’t seem to care about women’s team titles. To remain in this division now would be like limbo.

With the usual post-WrestleMania project or reshuffle probably in the cards, new opportunities await you.

Winner: Elias

It’s a game that wouldn’t have happened in a normal WrestleMania, but Elias took advantage of it by defeating Baron Corbin. It was arguably the biggest victory in Elias’ career. Baron Corbin has been a mainstay of WWE television, for better or for worse.

Can Elias use it as a springboard? History suggests that he will not do so and that he will return to playing irrelevant games and angles, but you never know. An intercontinental championship race would not be in place after that. We will just have to see what will happen in the weeks and months to come.
