The trailer opens with previous clips from season 1, the Mandalorian and the Child fleeing Nevarro and the voiceover of Moff Gideon hinting that the Child is not what it seems. A few space battles later, the Mandalorian notes that “things have gotten out of hand” and that someone “cannot stay with [him] more. “
Instead, in a rather amusing twist, the dialogue is in fact the Mandalorian Baby Yoda course, now described as a teenager, “not to smoke in the Razor Crest”. Teenage Yoda, surrounded by space drugs, Doritos space and even a statue of Teenage Groot, reacts in a standard rebel manner by abandoning their adopted father-son relationship. The Mandalorian then remarks that Teen Yoda is lucky that it is “completely carbonite”.

The Mandalorian was created by Jon Favreau and produced alongside Star Wars: The Clone Wars director Dave Filoni. Located after the events of Return of the Jedi, the show follows the titular Mandalorian, a masked bounty hunter who finds himself on the run after having decided to protect a Force-sensitive child (i.e. Baby Yoda) from the vestiges of the Empire and his companions bounty hunters.
The second season trailer is unlikely to represent baby Yoda or his surrogate father engaging in recreational activities. As a troll movement, it is quite effective on the part of IGN through the use of archive footage, a classic trailer movement.
Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito and Emily Swallow. Season 1 is now broadcast on Disney +, season 2 due to arrive in October.
