Developer Aspyr and Lucasfilm are advancing this game with modernized controls and believe this is the perfect time for this Star Wars classic to run again. Producer James Vicari explained why it is so important;

“Honestly, because good games should never be forgotten and great games are worth watching as much as possible,” said Vicari. “I think Racer, like Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast before him has two essential qualities: it is a great game and it has an emotional resonance. These are very important to us. We really believe in bringing fans together with something they cherish, or connecting a new audience with something they might have missed. ”

Vicari mentioned the Jedi Academy, which was recently announced in the last Nintendo Direct Mini and republished on Nintendo Switch alongside the revelation that Star Wars Episode I: Racer would also be on its way soon.
Star Wars Episode I: Racer was re-released on PC via GOG in 2018, and now more Star Wars fans will have a chance to relieve the racing game that we said “feels almost as good as the movie”.
