President Donald Trump suggests that travel restrictions along the Canada-US border could be relaxed as soon as possible.
Trump says Canada is doing a good job of controlling the spread of COVID-19 and that the border shared by the two countries may be among the first to be “liberated.”
He made the comments today at a press conference in the White House.
The two countries imposed a two-way non-essential travel ban in mid-March, an agreement which is set to expire on April 21.
However, this may not entirely depend on the United States, which currently handles the heaviest active workload in the world, particularly in the New York border state.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says efforts to control the spread of the virus in Canada should remain in place for several weeks.
