Selena Gomez reveals she has bipolar disorder

Selena Gomez announced Friday that she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The singer has been open about her anxiety and mental health issues in the past, but during Miley Cyrus’ “Bright Minded” show, Gomez shared a new update.

“Recently I went to one of the best mental hospitals … McLean Hospital and I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar and therefore, when I go find out more, it’s actually help me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it and I think people are scared of it, “Gomez told Cyrus when asked her advice for people who are afraid to talk about mental health.

“I have seen it and I have seen a part of it even in my own family where I am, what is going on? The “Feel Me” singer added, “We don’t know how to talk about your mental health.”

She noted that so many people think they “must look cool” rather than admitting that they need help.

“When I finally said what I was going to say, I wanted to know everything and that took away the fear,” said Gomez. “When I was younger, I was afraid of thunderstorms and my mother bought me all these different books on thunderstorms, so she said to me:” The more you learn about it, the more you will not have scared “and it completely worked and it’s the kind of something that helps me a lot. “

Gomez won the 2019 McClean Prize in September for his defense of mental health. During his acceptance speech at the dinner, Gomez spoke of his experiences with mental health: “I felt like all of my pain, anxiety and fear overwhelmed me all at once, and it was one of the scariest times of my life. “

Artist colleagues Demi Lovato and Bebe Rexha have also revealed that they are bipolar.

“I am bipolar and I am no longer ashamed,” then tweeted Rexha.
